Software Configuration

The operation of the HERCULES X8 drone relies on two pieces of software:

  • Arducopter firmware (installed on the drone)
  • Mission Planner software (installed on the ground control station)

The only way to access Black Square’s approved version for each piece of software is by using the download links provided by Black Square in this user manual.

⚠️

It is the responsibility of the operator to ensure that only the approved versions are used.

Checking Installed Versions​

The currently installed version of both Arducopter and Mission Planner can be checked in the top left bar of the Mission Planner interface, after establishing a connection via Telemetry.

In the example below, the user is using:

  • Mission Planner version 1.3.80
  • Arducopter version 4.4.4

Make sure to keep track of the installed software versions to ensure they align with the approved versions.
